 January 2007 Rhema
Word...
More
than Eternal
Being
Born Again
When I was
seeking the Lord on what should be the first
thing to be imparted to you for 2007, the phrase
being born again jumped out at me.
Many who visit this site are already living in
Christ, so I found that strange at first. As I
kept on listening for Him, it became clear of
what He wants to do for you and through you this
year.
The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy: I am come that they might have
life, and that they might have life, and life
more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV
Its been
said, and I agree completely, that if all Jesus
did was die for us on the cross so that we can be
eternally with the Father, we could not praise
Him enough, love Him enough, worship Him enough.
It is the core reason Jesus was born, lived,
died, and resurrected. However, being the giver
that God is, that was not enough. He wanted us to
born again, in every sense of the phrase. To have
life, and that life more abundantly.
How do we get
there? How can we live an abundant life? As the
Amplified Bible puts it, to the full, till it
overflows?
And
there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which
come] of the giants: and we were in our own
sights as grasshoppers, and so we were in their
sight. Numbers 13:33 KJV
Time and time
again, as I minister to people from around the
world, the common denominator in their struggles
is the perception of how they see themselves.
Over and over I hear: I know that God can,
but will He do it for me? Or, Why
should God bless me? Or, I know that
Hes all powerful, but maybe He will and
maybe He wont. Ill see
Or
Well, Im just a lowly no body. I just
need enough for my family. I dont need
much. I just need enough to make it, Lord.
Did you
know that this is self-centeredness? It might
sound like humility, but its not.
Self-centeredness causes us to have a distorted
image of ourselves. And so, if you have a
distorted image of yourself, thats how
others will see you. Here, in the book of
Numbers, we see that the Israelites are again
doubting God. Once again, they put their eyes on
themselves and in the power of their own might
instead of saying and trusting in what God has
said about them and about their future.
What do
you say about yourself? Do you say what God says
or do you say what others have said about you?
What do you say about your future? Does it match
up to what God has already prophesied in His
Word?
We need to be
born again so that those images that have been
placed in you during your formative years are
renewed and replaced by what God says. It is the
only way to live a life of victory. You must be
born again in your inner image. You are made in
the similitude of God. You are made to function
like Him. Is your life reflecting that in every
area?
