Learn from those around you

"But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation." James 5v12 NKJV

As I was awaiting the verdict on Michael Jackson, my husband and I decided to wait through all the speculations of the anchors on television and continue to make dinner and switch it over to cartoons. We flipped back and forth awaiting what the verdict would be. A couple things happened that really stood out to me:

· Point 1: Faith needs to be followed by actions.

There was a woman at the hearing awaiting the verdict. With her accompanied 10 doves. As each "not guilty" verdict was read, she released a dove. As I saw it I screamed, "Now there's some faith!" She was so convinced of Mr. Jackson's innocence that she came prepared to release the symbol of freedom, grace, and mercy – the dove! She didn't care if she looked like a lunatic to those around her; she didn't care if she looked foolish as she went into her jubilee; she rejoiced! She rejoiced loudly! She rejoiced flamboyantly! She didn't bring 5 doves, 7 doves, or 9 doves. She fully expected that he would be acquitted of all 10 charges.

Our Life Lesson: May we be so bold as to believe God when He tells us something. May we go into a jubilee knowing our God will surely deliver us from the evil one. May we worship Him and rejoice over Him all our days knowing that in Him we have freedom! May we never be ashamed to shout it out: Our God is a good God!

· Point 2: It is more important than you think to be a person of your word.

The main issue with the trail was the integrity of the accusers. This is why it is vital to be a person of your word. If all the "People" had in this case was the word of the "victims", the persons would have to be known for their word. In this case, they weren't, which I believe was the core reason for the outcome.

Our Life Lesson: Let your yes be yes and your no be no. If you commit to it, follow through, even to your hurt. In the long run, it will not only benefit you, but those around you. Being known as a woman of excellence and intergrity is a legacy worth building and leaving.
